During the event, Chief
Launcher/Chairman of the occasion Eng. Sergius Ojikeya received a copy of the
book from the author and reflected deeply on its theme.
Responding, the author
presented his profile, and address for the event to the teaming audience as
follows:
The Profile of Ezinwa Callistus Chinonso Osunwa
The birth of this great
young man; Callistus Chinonso was on the 17th of July, 1990 in Warri, Delta
State to the family of Mr. Longinus Ama Osunwa and Mrs. Rose Osunwa of Eloka
village in Ibele Autonomous Community, Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State
of Nigeria. He was born in between four girls as the third out of the five
children of his parents. Hi twin brother was lost barely after birth.
Spiritual Life
His journey of Christian
faith and life started on 28th Dec, 1990 when he was baptized a
Catholic by Rev. Fr. R. Ogu and given the name Callistus by Rev. Fr. Malchy
Osuunwa. He proceeded and received his first holy communion on the 20th
of April, 2003 immediately after which he joined the altar servers association
of which he had remained a committed member till date. He was confirmed a
catholic by His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. G.O. Ochiagha, the bishop emeritus of
Orlu Catholic Diocese on 2nd July, 2006. During the event, he was awarded
a certificate of merit by Bishop Ochiagha, for his commendable education of the
catechism and doctrine of the church.
As a child, he felt he had a
call to serve God and humanity as a priest. And after due consultation in 2005,
he was advised by his mentor, to go ahead and search for his priestly vocation,
but all efforts to enroll into the seminary did not yield fruit. The further
attempts he made after his secondary school to join the seminary did not also
yield fruit. Later on, he decided to continue with his university education.
Due to his passion for the
knowledge of the word of God, he was moved to join the Catholic Biblical
Movement of Nigeria (CBMN) in 2007. He is also an avid lector and acolyte in
the Catholic Church.
This loving and charitable
young man believes and had always expressed that our lives here on earth are
meant to love and serve God through our love and useful service to humanity.
Callistus Chinonso; an ardent and prayerful Christian ensures that he
communicates all he does to God in prayer and also makes out time to pray for
others especially those who cannot pray for themselves.
It was due to his shining
Christian life, simplicity and total commitment to the things of God that the
Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria in Orlu Diocese recommended him to the episcopacy
of which he was awarded an Ezinwa Merit Award conferred on him by the Catholic
Bishop of Orlu; Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Tochukwu Ukwuoma on the 31st
of July 2016 at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Orlu.
Education/Academic Life
During early childhood, the
little Callistus Chinonso was enrolled into the kindergarten at Ekpa by airport

former Uncle Tony’s International Primary School and he later obtained his
First School Leaving Certificate from River Side Primary School Umuaka.

went ahead and completed his secondary school at Sancta Maria. During his
secondary education, he was the student librarian and also the secretary to the

An Address by Ezinwa Callistus Chinnso Osunwa On The Occasion Of His 27th
Birth Anniversary/Launching Of New Book
The Chairman of the
occasion, all Rev. Fathers present, all Ezes and Ugoezes, my special guest of honor,
the book reviewer, principals of schools, all other dignitaries present,
distinguished gentlemen and ladies, I say good day and welcome to you all.
It is a thing of joy and
also thanksgiving to God that you all have gathered today to celebrate with me.
Today we have come to celebrate victory over all life challenges and tribulations
which had come up my way over the years. Today marks the end of my first 27
years on earth, and also the beginning of another era in my life.
Sincerely speaking, it has
not been so easy since childhood.
However, I felt obliged to
share with you one of the lessons I have learnt over the years. And that is the
main reason for this gathering. I believe this would rekindle the faith of many
who may have given up, or would want to give up on God or on life due to
certain challenges or societal pressures and disorders which has befallen our
present society.
I have been a seeker over
the years, seeking for God and his truth. I nearly gave up on God and on life
especially between 2013 and 2015 because of certain terrifying experiences I
had. Eventually, that period turned around to mark the beginning of a
revolutionary era in my life. And it was then I understood that even if God did
not assure us of smooth flight, he guarantees us of safe landing. But if
eventually we don’t land safely, there is a reason for it. That was a big
lesson for me. And after that lesson, I realized that truly his grace amazes.
So if there are apparently recent changes in my life, that does not mean that
God‘s calling for my life has changed, it rather means that my understanding of
the call has deepened and broadened during the process of my self-formation. If
you are one of those who have been moving around looking for miracle, then look
at me today, I am a miracle. And I believe that each and every one of us here
present is also a miracle. So, as you are celebrating me, I am also celebrating
you. And we all are celebrating to the glory of God.
The book we are unveiling
today is a product of circumstances. And that is why I have found it suitable
to be presented to the public “first” and on this occasion rather than present
the ones I wrote before it. The book “HIDDEN GENERATION” is a novel which
illustrates a challenged academic set up and the after school experiences in a
corrupt country like ours. It also suggests some possible solutions to the
aforementioned challenges. In addition, it informs us that the most important
knowledge one needs in life is how to start living from wherever he is with
whatever he has, the remaining knowledge required are experiences.
Once more, I say welcome to
you all. I am grateful to all whose advice and support made today a reality. I
thank all who in one way or the other have added value to my life. I also wish
to say a big thank you to all who in one way or the other added salt to the
injuries I have sustained in life. I thank you because you have made me
stronger. And may the almighty God bless you all and add values to your lives
for coming to celebrate me today. Thank you so much for the gift of your
presence.
I love you all. And may the
Almighty God bless your stay, and in the end this occasion, may He safely lead
you home through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Ezinwa Callistus Chinonso Osunwa.
The occasion came to an end
with excitements and joy especially regarding to the age of the author, his
high built profile, the book and other of his wonderful works.
